O'Donnell, Charles
Welcome!
About Me:
Though my formative years were spent in Baltimore, MD, I’ve lived in the Twin Cities since 2006 and taught in St. Paul since 2008. I decided to pursue teaching after working in a group home with teens who had significant behavioral concerns and learning disabilities. I came to enjoy the challenge of helping them learn pro-social behaviors and especially liked helping them with school assignments. I thought that I would like to do that on a larger scale, in a classroom setting. Aside from a half year at Arlington HS in 2008, I’m a Washington “lifer”—I have taught exclusively at Wash since Winter 2009 and watched the school grow from a small 7-8 middle school to a 6-12 secondary location. I enjoy the challenges of working with students and the rewards of helping them discover their talents and realize their potential. I have taught--both in my own room as well as with co-teaching partners-- everything from Human Geography and English to Read 180, Study Skills and Intermediate Algebra. Currently I case manage and teach 9th grade students with the disabilities of Emotional and Behavioral Disorders, Learning Disabilities and Other Health Disabilities in both the mainstream inclusion setting as well as the special education setting.
