Hardie, Matthew
Mr. Matthew Hardie
I have been teaching in Saint Paul since 2007. I spent 12 years at Central Senior High. I came to Washington in 2019. I have taught almost everything from Algebra to AP Calculus including regular, support, and accelerated programs.
I have a double major in Math and Theater from University of Minnesota as well as a Master's Degree in Education.
I believe for students to be successful in the 21st century students need the following skills:
- Ability to self learn
- Problem solving
- Communication with others
- Productive perseverance
- Transference
- Technology fluency
Mathematics provides an opportunity for these multifacets by communicating their thinking, having problem solving problems, recognizing patterns, and generalizing those findings which translates to the transference idea. Being able to learn things on their own and taking initiative for their success persevering through will make them a vital part of their work place and help their life in general.
