image

In American Studies students will understand the cause and effect relationships for the events that shaped the United States from the abolition movement to the Cold War. In addition, students will learn strategies to become better readers and writers using Common Core standards.

Each student will complete a National History Day project, learning research and presentation skills with Washington's state-of-the-art technology.

AVID strategies that incorporate writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading are utilized to achieve selected learning goals. Cornell Note taking is also emphasized in the learning process in American Studies.
