Kate Garvey

Assistant Principal- Middle/Jr

My name is Kate Garvey and I am excited to be joining the Washington Middle School team as the 6th Grade Assistant Principal.

This will be my 13th year working for SPPS, most recently I have served as the Assistant Principal at Bruce F. Vento. Prior to being an AP, I worked as a third and fourth-grade teacher at Farnsworth Aerospace and Four Seasons Arts as well as Media Specialist and TOSA.

As an educator, I believe that relationships matter and building strong relationships is key to success. I enjoy strong collaboration and am excited to join the team at Washington Middle. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and connecting with friends. Also, as a former student athlete, I enjoy watching youth sports, specifically basketball.

Carlottia Ruff

Carlottia Ruff

Assistant Principal- Middle/Jr

My name is Carlottia Ruff and I am delighted to introduce myself as the 7th - Grade Assistant Principal here at Washington Technology Middle School. It is an honor to be a part of this incredible learning community to help foster the success and well-being of our students.

I have been dedicated to the field of education for 17 years and during this time I have had the privilege of working with students, parents, and educators from diverse backgrounds. My educational journey has included receiving a B.A. in Biology from the illustrious Alabama State University, an M.A., in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Detroit Mercy, and an Ed.S. in Administration from Concordia University.  Each experience has deepened my passion for contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment.

I firmly believe that education is a collaborative effort between the school and the home. Together, we can SOAR in an environment where our students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

It’s a great day to be an Eagle!
